Getting started with Word Challenge
Word Challenge is a word-guessing game for iPhone and iPad. Guess the hidden word within six tries: after each guess the tiles turn green (right letter, right place), yellow (right letter, wrong place), or grey (not in the word).
- Choose your word length — 4 to 7 letters on iPhone, and up to 14 letters on iPad.
- Play your way — unlimited puzzles with no daily wait, a daily Challenge with streaks, or real-time head-to-head multiplayer.
- Coins and hints — earn coins by playing or by watching a rewarded advert, and spend them on child-friendly hints that nudge without spoiling the answer.
- Online or offline — sign in to Apple Game Center for leaderboards, achievements, and to sync your progress across devices.
Coins, purchases, and restoring
Word Challenge is free to play. Coin packs are optional in-app purchases charged to your Apple ID.
Buying coins
Tap the Coins icon on the main game screen and choose a pack. Payment is processed by Apple and charged to your Apple account.
Coins did not arrive after a purchase
- Close the app completely and reopen it so your balance can sync.
- Check that you have a stable internet connection.
- If you were charged but the coins still have not appeared, email [email protected] with your Apple receipt and we will sort it out.
Restoring purchases
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. This re-applies any non-consumable purchases and active subscriptions. Your coin balance is stored on your game profile and syncs when you sign in to Game Center.
Subscriptions and cancelling
Word Challenge is free to download and play, and coin packs are one-off in-app purchases. If you have taken out an optional subscription, it is billed through your Apple ID and you can view or cancel it at any time from iOS:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Word Challenge.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. If there is no Cancel button, the subscription is already cancelled and will not renew.
Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep access until the end of the current billing period. If you are on a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged. You can also manage everything from Apple’s manage subscriptions page.
Refunds
Apple processes every payment for the App, so all refund requests are handled by Apple rather than by us:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
- Choose “Request a refund” and select a reason.
- Select the Word Challenge purchase, then submit it for review.
We cannot issue refunds directly, but if something has gone wrong please email [email protected] and we will do what we can to help.
Notifications, privacy, and your data
- Notifications— manage daily-challenge and multiplayer reminders in the app’s settings, or in iOS Settings → Notifications → Word Challenge.
- Tracking and adverts — control ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can play either way; declining simply means adverts are non-personalised.
- Your data — you do not need an account to play. To ask for access to, or deletion of, any personal information we hold, email [email protected]. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Device requirements and troubleshooting
Word Challenge requires a compatible iPhone or iPad; the minimum iOS version is shown on the App Store listing. If the app is not behaving, this usually fixes it:
- Update to the latest version of Word Challenge from the App Store.
- Force-close the app and reopen it, then restart your device.
- Check your internet connection for multiplayer, purchases, and syncing.
- Sign in to Game Center before reinstalling so your progress is safely synced first.

Is Word Challenge free to play?
Yes. Word Challenge is free to download and play on iPhone and iPad. You can optionally buy coin packs as in-app purchases, and rewarded video adverts let you earn coins for free. Any optional subscription is billed through your Apple ID.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Word Challenge, then tap Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep access until the end of the current billing period. If there is no Cancel button, the subscription is already cancelled.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles all purchases and refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, choose "Request a refund", select your Word Challenge purchase, and submit it for review. As the developer we are unable to issue refunds directly, but we are happy to help if you get stuck.
How do I restore my purchases?
Open Word Challenge, go to Settings inside the app, and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. This re-applies any non-consumable purchases and active subscriptions. Your coin balance is saved to your game profile and syncs automatically when you sign in to Game Center.
I bought coins but they didn't appear. What should I do?
First, close and reopen the app so your balance can sync, and make sure you have a stable internet connection. If you were charged but the coins still have not arrived, email [email protected] with your Apple receipt and we will put it right.
How do I move my progress to a new device or recover lost progress?
Sign in to Apple Game Center with the same Apple ID on your other device. Your statistics, streaks, and coin balance are tied to your game profile and sync automatically once you are signed in.
How do I play Word Challenge?

How do I stop seeing personalised adverts?
On iOS, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking, and turn off tracking for Word Challenge. You can keep playing either way; you may still see non-personalised adverts, which help keep the game free.
